model FT/IR-600 seriesThe new FT/IR-600 series is the top of the line in research grade
FT/IRs. Designed to complement the recently released FT/IR-400 series the 600 series
utilizes the same innovative Spectra Manager software running under Windows? The
FT-IR-600 features a larger and more versatile optical bench to meet the resultion,
sensitivity and wavenumber range requirements demanded in research grade FT/IRs.
Features
- Wide wavenumber range. One optical bench for Visible to far infrared.
- Very high sensitivity. Uses high aperture interferometer optics.
- Ample choice of beam splitters, light sources and detectors.
- Auto-alignment for fixed mirror. Allows easy beam splitter exchange by any operator.
- Affordable evacuable models eliminate N2 purging and enhance
sensitivity.
- Infield upgrade to FT/Raman, GC-FT/IR, TG- FT/IR, Micro FT/IR, etc.
Versatility
Three main FT/IR-600 models are available with either a purgeable or an evacuable
interferometer
- Model FT/IR-610 with resolution down to 0.5cm-1 for general
research applications.
- Model FT/IR-615 with improved resolution to 0.25 cm-1 for
applications such as gas analysis
- Model FT/IR-620 featuring 0.25cm-1 resolution, gold coated
interferometer optics and fast scan capability. The logical starting point for expansion
to FT/Raman.
Optical performance
Standard on all FT/IR-600 Spectrometers:
- Conventional Ge coated KBr beam splitter.
- Innovative, patented, high temperature ceramic source.
- High sensitivity, thermally insulated DLATGS detector.
- 28?incidence angle optics to reduce polarization effects with aperture system designed
to achieve the highest optical resolution.
End purging while enhancing sensitivity
Unique for this range of instruments is the availability of three relatively inexpensive
models with evacuable interferometers. Vacuum type FT/IRs (Models FT/IR-610V, 615V, and
620V) are usually considered the logical choice for far infrared applications: an
expensive, by effective, alternative to conventional flushing with dry air and nitrogen.
However, JASCOs three relatively inexpensive vacuum models are also well suited for
mid infrared applications. Removing water and CO2 absorption
bands from the background allows higher sensitivity over the entire wavelength range.
Aluminum alloy casing enables vacuum operation
The aluminum alloy interferometer casing offers durability, stability and high sealing
efficiency. Nitrogen purge capability is standard on all models of the 600 series while
the 600V models can be efficiently evacuated by an inexpensive vacuum pump. The vacuum
interferometer is more efficient at removing water vapor and CO2
than the traditional purging by nitrogen or dry gas. The vacuum offers significant
improvement not only in the far IR region but also in the mid IR where measurement is
effected by absorption of water vapor. For the ultimate removal of vapor and CO2
the All V models can be made fully evacuable including detector chamber and sample
compartment. (Factory option)
Light sources, detectors, beam splitters
The FT/IR-600 Series can be equipped with a range of sources, beam splitters and detectors
to expand the standard 7800 to 350 cm-1 range to cover 15000 to
50 cm-1. Three separate light sources can be incorporated in the
unit including ceramic, Tungsten and high pressure Mercury. Up to four PC controlled
detectors can be used, up to two within the main unit and two attached at the external
port. Beam splitters can be exchanged by any operator and the auto-alignment feature
adjusts for maximum throughput in about 15 minutes.
Rapid scanning
The rapid scan feature can acquire up to 20 scans per second
allowing reaction profiles of rapidly changing compounds to be easily monitored. The
kinetic change associated with an instantaneous adhesive. GC-FTIR also typically utilizes
the rapid scan function to monitor GC separations. The rapid scan feature is standard on
the FT/IR-620 and optional for the 610/615 models.
Vibration Isolation
All FT/IR-600 models feature a specially designed vibration insulator that completely
separates the optical bench from both the upper and lower casing. This isolation provides
extremely stable scanning allowing accurate measurement even during the highest
sensitivity measurements.
FT/Raman Upgrade
The FT/IR-620 can be easily upgraded to measure FT/Raman by coupling the Model RFT-600
Raman attachment and a YAG laser (locally available). The Gold coated optics offer the
highest throughput to provide the sensitivity demanded by Raman measurement. Both Micro
and Macro FT/Raman can be measured and the sample stage allows both vertical and
horizontal positioning.
Spectra Manager
The new Spectra Manager software allows control of a wide variety of instrumentation from
the same common platform. Spectra Manager controls not only the FTIR series instruments
but also V-series UV/VIS/NIR Spectrophotometers, J-Series CD/ORD Spectropolarimeters, and
FP-750 Fluorescence Spectrofluorometer. The integrated package contains all the functions
necessary to process all forms of spectroscopic data and frequently used functions can be
conveniently accessed from user selectable tool bars. When measurement is completed, the
analysis program is automatically started up, measurement data is transferred, and the
spectrum is displayed in a view window.
