Recording Rain
Gauges
All electronics are concealed inside a watertight NEMA 4x enclosure beneath the rain gauge's collector. The enclosure's hinged lid allows quick access to the data logger for easy programming and data retrieval. Depending on the type of RAM you select (volatile or non-volatile), the logger can be programmed to record rainfall for as little as five days at one-minute intervals or for as long as 326 days at one-hour intervals (see table below). At each interval, the logger records the rate of rainfall during the interval, when the measurement was recorded, and the total accumulation of rainfall to that point. The date is also logged at the start of each day. Results may be saved as English or metric graduations. Two RGEL rain gauge models are available: a standard model which is ideal for warm climates and a heated model which, thanks to two thermostatic blanket heaters, can record accumulation levels of snow and other frozen precipitation. These heaters automatically switch on when temperatures drop below 35°F and require their own 120V or 220V electrical power supply. Both models include a data logger, PC interface cable, rechargeable battery, and PVC mounting post.
