SDI Depth Sensor Stevens Water
Monitoring Systems has introduced a new line of submersible water depth
and temperature sensors, the Stevens SDI Depth Sensor. These sensors
utilize the SDI-12 interface for operation with the AxSys MPU. The
integrated unit is less than 1 1/4 inches in diameter and of stainless
steel construction. Its depth sensing accuracy is .05% of full scale, and
it is available in ranges from 17.5 feet of water on up to 350 feet.
The SDI Depth Sensor provides both depth and temperature signals in the
SDI-12 interface format. Designed for use with the Stevens AxSys, the
sensor is capable of integrating into other systems using the SDI-12 smart
sensor interface. Up to eight such sensors can be connected to the AxSys
MPU, which can log up to eight different parameters.
The SDI Depth Sensor is available with custom cable lengths, and in
fully integrated configurations for use with the Stevens AxSys MPU.
Typical applications The SDI
Depth Sensor integrates well with the Stevens AxSys MPU to provide a
complete monitoring, controlling and data logging system. Up to eight SDI
sensors can be connected to one AxSys MPU, doing any combination of
temperature or level monitoring and data logging of up to eight
parameters. Four sensors could provide four water level and water
temperature readings. Six sensors could provide six level readings and two
temperature readings, or any other combination up to eight total readings
of level or temperature monitored and recorded in the AxSys MPU. The
System can also integrate combinations of other sensors which utilize the
SDI-12 sensor interface.
Many applications involve the replacement of older mercury manometer
systems, where there is still a need to provide onsite chart recording via
a mechanical drive output. The SDI Depth Sensor and AxSys MPU are both
fully compatible with the Stevens Electro ChartDrive (ECD) unit. This unit
monitors the SDI-12 signals to determine a depth reading from the sensor.
This is then translated into a mechanical shaft output for driving chart
recorders such as the Stevens A-71.
