Novo-Haze is an instrument designed to give assessment of haze in applications where simple gloss measurement is sometimes not enough.

Operational details

Some materials appear to have considerable difference in gloss, but give comparable readings when measured with a glossmeter at a single angle. However, such materials can be distinguished by measuring at a second angle and comparing the difference of the two readings. Novo-Haze is designed around the US standard ASTM D4039 and haze is defined as the difference between gloss at 60° and gloss at 20°, i.e.

Haze = Gloss₆₀ - Gloss₂₀

Measurements are made by placing the instrument on the test surface and pressing a button. Two consecutive gloss readings are automatically taken and the calculated haze value is displayed in 3 seconds.

Nova-Haze also has dual functionality and can also be used both a 20° and a 60° glossmeter.
