Novo-Gloss instruments measure gloss in all the popular geometries: 20, 45, 60, 60M, 75 and 85, and in the dual geometry 20/60. Dual instruments feature beam coincidence which means that both measurements are taken at the same point on the surface.

Robust hand-held instruments, they are powered by an internal rechargeable battery, and may be used on the mains with the adaptor provided. They meet international specifications for the measurement of gloss on paints, plastics, paper, card and metals.

The accuracy is comparable to that of a large laboratory instrument. Readings are captured in 3 seconds to be displayed in increments of 0.1 gloss units. The special features are the stabilisation circuits and second sensor which correct for changing battery voltage and lamp ageing.

A new (pat. app.) optical arrangement ensures excellent long term stability. The base plate which also provides the optical mounting is machined from a single aluminum section to provide the stability of an optical bench.

Standards or Tiles
Instruments are supplied with a traceable calibration standard which has a value near to the ideal 100 value. Each one is calibrated against a primary, the correct gloss value (e.g. 98.7) is ascribed to it. The instrument is simple to calibrate. Zero is automatic but can be checked using the black surface supplied.

Optional standards available
TCS = Traceable calibration standard high value and zero, as supplied with glossmeters, or heads.
ICS = Intermediate calibration standard. (traceable)
