By using the null (zero gauging) principle, frictional parts, such as chains and levers, are eliminated. The altimeter works on a principle similar to a balance beam. Atmospheric pressure acting on the diaphragm causes the pointer to instantly swing to the left or right indicating the direction of the change. Since the pressure changes are limited to a few thousandths of an inch, friction errors are eliminated.
Altitude is displayed on a 7" diameter analog dial with etched face. Furnished with leather carrying case, magnifier, pocket thermometer and altimetry manual.
