Principles of operation
The test surface is illuminated from a 45° angle. The intensity is scattered light at the perpendicular (i.e. 0°) is measured.

Data is recorded on a grey scale where black is 0% and while is 100%. Only shading is measured, irrespective of colour, and is referred ta as whiteness.

Hiding power determination according to ISO 2814 involves measuring whiteness of a known film of test material on both a black (<5%) and a white (>75%; <85%) substrate. NOVO-PAC automatically calculates the ratio of these two readings to give the hiding power measurement.

NOVO-PAC is supplied with all the equipment to measure hiding power according to ISO 2814 standards:

NOVO-PAC comes supplied with certified NPL traceable calibration standards, Windows PC software, charger unit, RS-232 interface cable and carrying case.
