The new SPECTRAmax GEMINI XS spectrofluorometer
with its extra sensitive optical design, allows for fast measurements
of low level detection limits, as required by most of todays fluorescence-based
assays. Cellular and molecular binding studies, DNA quantitation,
drug screening, and environmental analysis all require a high degree
of sensitivity. The SPECTRAmax®
GEMINI XS system offers a flexible, filter-free environment allowing
you the ability to determine optimal excitation and emission settings
in 1.0 nm increments and provides the best level of sensitivity
for your variable assay conditions.

No Filters Needed
In todays busy laboratory, the last thing you need is to spend a lot of time searching for the right excitation and emission filter for your particular assays. Often filters that are included with fluorescent microplate readers are 25 nm or more away from optimal settings. With the GEMINI XS system, you never have to worry about not having the right filter pair because the system doesnt need them!
Instead, the system uses two scanning monochromators to determine the optimal excitation and emission settings for the specific fluorophores you are using. And when you need to change methods or fluorophores, it takes only a few software commands to adjust the system.
Flexible Microplate Format
The GEMINI XS system allows you to select from 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96- and 384-well microplate formats for your fluorometric measurements. You can read a single point in the center of the well or activate the well-scanning feature to collect multiple data points from the bottom of large well tissue culture plates. From high throughput 384-well analysis to large area culture plate assays, the choice is yours.
Robotics Compatible
Interfacing the GEMINI XS system to a robotic
system is easy with our powerful SOFTmax® PRO software system. Communication
exchange between the automation device and the GEMINI XS system is direct
through SOFTmax PRO softwares Interprocess Messaging feature. Its communication
made easy!
SOFTmax PRO Software, Included with Every SPECTRAmax GEMINI XS
SOFTmax PRO allows you to select excitation and emission values from the literature and simply input their values for the monochromator settings. If you dont know the recommended wavelengths for the fluorophore of interest, you can easily scan both excitation and emission spectra and determine the optimal settings. It really is that easy.
No hardware changes of any kind are required to change modes of operation from standard fluorescence to time-resolved fluorescence, luminescence, or well-scanning. All you have to do is make the selection in SOFTmax PRO software with the click of a mouse.
