Notchvis
The Automatic Notchvis is designed of laboratories which need to perform a large number of impact tests, and spend a lot of time and human resources preparing highly accurate and reproducible specimens. In order to give laboratories the chance to save time and money, CEAST has developed this instrument, which can notch up to 56 specimens 3.17mm thick in one cycle with the highest accuracy. Automation The Automatic Notchvis is a microprocessor controlled unit, designed to notch, rapidly and automatically, specimens used for resilience impact tests. The notching system is made up of interchangeable constant profile knives assembled on a mechanical precision slide separate from the pneumatic drive. This guarantees a considerably smooth cutting path for the knife. A soft-touch keypad allows the user to input all the necessary parameters, such as remaining depth (notch depth) and single pass depth; the machine will then automatically complete the desired work cycle. A digital display indicates all the working parameters, such as: set remaining depth, actual remaining depth, single pass depth and cutting speed. Cutting speed Adjustable via air-flow regulator, the Automatic Notchvis can easily cover the knife speed range required by international standards (ie. between 12 and 20 m/min). Single Pass Depth (Specimen loader feed) Input via keyboard, this is adjustable from 0.01 to 0.1mm ±0.01 Remaining Depth Input via keypad this is selectable according to international
standards. Ancillary equipment code 6819.010 to check the remaining depth
of notched specimens is also available. Cycle time Cycle time depends on the cutting speed, single pass depth and remaining depth set prior to the test. For example, with a cutting speed of 18m/min., a single pass depth of 0.02mm, and remaining depth of 10.16mm the cycle time is approximately 12 minutes. Versability The Automatic Notchvis is designed to more than satisfy the requirements of ISO 2818. The cutting speed and the feed rate of the specimen loader are both adjustable in order to cope with the variables that affect the accuracy of specimen notching, such as the polymer family, the elasticity and recovery characteristics of the material. Safety The Automatic Notchvis has been developed in accordance with full
Safety requirements. The Automatic Notchvis provides enclosure of all
moving parts.
