A customised liquid crystal display enables the simultaneous presentation of conductivity and temperature. The temperature display is also used during set-up routines and to provide prompts, mode indication and error messages. A simple, sealed push button control panel used in conjonction with the display ensures that even inexperienced operators are able to achieve reliable results. Solution conductivity is very temperature dependent. For comparative results to be meaningful all measurements are referred back to an agreed, operator selected reference temperature of 18, 20 or 25°C. Temperature is measured via a precision thermistor mounted in the conductivity sensor. This provides a constant readout of temperature and automatically enables temperature compensation of results. Temperature coefficient values between 0 and 4%/°C can be entered. A default of 2%/°C being assumed unless overwritten. Calibration and verification of results is possible by reference to standard calibration values. The meter will automatically recognise KCI standard values and will adjust accordingly. Calibration can also be achieved by reference to a cell constant value indicated on the pre-calibrated probe supplied with the unit. The alternative cells available for use with the Model 4310 allow the specified conductivity ranges to be extended by a factor of 10 i.e. a reading can be multiplied or divided by 10 depending on the cell configuration. The Model 4310 bas a bi-directional RS232 output enabling interfacing with either a printer or PC. An analog output proportional to the displayed reading is also provided for connection to a chart recorder or data logger. The sensor supplied with the meter has platinum plates which have a platinised surface. A platinising socket is provided on the rear panel of the unit to enable rapid and safe replatinisation of sensors. Specifications
